The Fontanini Nativity story of Jethro, Tamar, and Saul: Close in age and in spirit, Jethro, Tamar, and Saul were inseparable playmates. They cavorted together in the courtyard, playing their favorite games, and racing through the alleyways in search of great adventures. At the village wall, they came upon an old woman, a stranger they had never seen. Not shy, Tamar asked the woman if she was in need of any help. The old woman turned to the children and told them joyfully of what she had just seen - the Baby the Prophets had proclaimed as Savior had been born in Bethlehem's stable. She urged the children to run to see the Child, and to honor him with gifts. The children hesitated - what gifts could they possibly give so such a special Child? Tamar offer a song, Jethro a lyric poem, and dear Saul, after great thought, a stick, the one he proudly carried as the camel driver of the children's imaginary caravan.
